    Aren’t politicians wonderful!

    Keep going kids!

Yeah, plus, they’ve got the whole of early adulthood to keep going and going and going…

I remember when I walked out of my high school to protest the nuclear testing in Amchitka way back in the 60’s. Yes I was a rebel without a cause in most cases but this scared me and was something that I cared about. I feel good about the kids walking out all over the world to support these youth in America. They are thoughtful and well-spoken and make sense. Let’s support them!

Seeing a new generation of voters take responsibility for their citizenship, humanity, and vision of America’s future with a passionate commitment reminiscent of the Vietnam anti-war activists gives me hope that we really do have a better future.

  5. Sue Battista

Exactly. The Pope is encouraging the young not to be silenced by the older generation, after all the future belongs to them.

What I like best is that it seems this is a cross-generational movement so far. I hope it doesn’t degenerate into a ‘kids vs adults’ sort of thing.

Although I don’t agree with some of what he said, I do agree with his thoughts on prayer. Prayer changes everything.

    • laura bruno lilly

Agreed about the power of prayer, Jill.
Our elected government officials are there to do more than pray, however.

  7. Mary

Geez, just when I thought NC was the most embarrassing state in the union!

    • laura bruno lilly

Oh gee, don’t even get me started…
But at least it’s out there for all to see and not something ‘made up’ by a Northerner such as myself. (Actually, I’m a Westerner, but that nuance is not really understood by those living east of the Mississippi River – HA!)

How extremely sad. Just when students need to know they’re supported, they get slammed. ☹️

    • laura bruno lilly

But man, they just seem to take it in stride and keep on keepin’ on….

  9. Marla

Laura, good for you for calling out the governor of South Carolina. These students are so brave and I am so proud of them. They are fighting for their lives, literally, and to ensure a world where no more young people have to be afraid of violence at school.

    • laura bruno lilly

Thank you Marla for your vote of confidence! I’m sure you have plenty of ‘activity’ to field in your part of the country – kudos for all you’ve been doing this past year.

  10. Janis

I don’t know whether to be horrified or embarrassed for him. Shameful, indeed.

    • laura bruno lilly

He’s in a position of power…embarrassment is for gaffs like accidentally burping in the middle of a diplomatic meal…
      Just sayin’.

      • Janis

Haha! Good point. Plus, being embarrassed for him would imply that I actually thought he’d wake up and realize what an idiot he was. Probably not going to happen.

        • laura bruno lilly

I tend to agree with your assessment!
