Looking forward to the future, it seems like it can only get brighter at this point πŸ™‚

    Well said!

      Thank you, Jennie.

      • Jennie

        You’re welcome, Laura.

A lot has happened in January, good and bad. Hope the rest of the yer is better.

    • laura bruno lilly

One day at a time, eh?

  4. merrildsmith

    Yes, indeed.

Days are full of contrasts but Wednesday surely has to be the biggest one of all! We watched the whole inaugaration live, astonishing scenes, music, poetry and hope for the future. Yet, the tragic deaths of so many is nearly impossible to fathom … the count likewise horrific here in the UK and not going down. Life is lived with joy, sadness, hope, despair, all tightly intertwined.

    • laura bruno lilly

      Quite true, Annika.

Such a juxtaposition of ideas on that page. The good and the awful side by side, like life I suppose. Thanks goodness we’ve moved forward now, to what I’m hoping will be healthier days.

Hear, hear! Here’s to moving forward – inch by inch but gaining by miles!

Wednesday was such an emotional day. I was moved to tears more than once.

    • laura bruno lilly

A great start for us all – refreshing. Now it’s one-step-at-a-time!

      • Laurie Graves

        It certainly is.

A little bit of both relief, happiness, and frightful sadness all at once. Two days later and I’m still in disbelief about both things! – Marty

    • laura bruno lilly

      Me, too, Marty…

Joy and sadness, for sure. I am looking forward to having this pandemic taken seriously and science to shape policy. Even Anthony Fauci looks happier!

    • laura bruno lilly

      You’re right about that!

    It certainly gives one pause

    • laura bruno lilly

Sort of a juxtaposition of life these days.

Love this post, Laura. Though the death count is very sobering, I can’t help but think of the God who fights our battles.

    • laura bruno lilly

…and the God whose arms I am in…

  12. Frank @ Beach Walk Reflections

Good one, Laura …. highs and lows on the same day.

  13. Andy

Bitter sweet, but speaks of promise.

    • laura bruno lilly

      It’s a start.

  14. Chela's Colchas y Mas

A hopeful, cleansing day for sure. Celebrating and praying.

    • laura bruno lilly

      Doing this with you, Chela.

There is a lot of work going forward from today. Let the work lift us up, and carry us all forward.

This day will stick in our memories for a long time.

Laura, in my lifetime, I don’t think the US has faced more challenging times. I think the new administration is well-prepared to deal with Covid 19, the economic problems, and the unrest and violence. It’s a tall order! Thank you for this supportive post! <3 Wishing you all the best! Stay safe and be happy!

    • laura bruno lilly

And thanks for the supportive response, Cheryl!
We’re up to the challenge – daunting as ever.

  18. deborahbrasket

Such a joyful day, full of hope.

    • laura bruno lilly

Yes, and invigorating! Just the ticket – get the pun? – along with a huge pot of coffee, to hit the floor – another pun? – running!!!!
Hey, flower sister, keep on blooming.

I like your journal page and enjoyed watching the inauguration, One of many quotes by President Biden that give me pause to breathe a sigh of relief, “We will lead not by the example of our power but by the power of our of our example.” The whole speech expressed positivity and willingness to serve the needs of all Americans. The response of leaders from around the world was positive. The leader of my province is reacting about the end of the pipeline deal, of course, but hopefully he can discuss alternatives and solutions. Covid is very scary, especially with these crazy-high numbers and new strains and a slow-down in the vaccines. Working together may go a long way to find common solutions. Congratulations and Blessings to America and your new President and Vice-President, Kamela Harris.

Thank you, Jane (my BCF – ‘Best Canadian Friend’).
      Your insights are heartening.
Getting back to the business of ‘working’ and working together for the common good and well this basic notion of:
“Every disagreement doesn’t have to be a cause for total war.”
Hugs and plenty of Twizzlers to add to the celebration!

      • Jane's Heartsong

Thank you for your sentiments (BCF) i am happy to call you “friend”. I love my Twizzlers but buying smaller packages now. Sigh…
