The road ends, but the journey continues...

Mother's Day mp3 Greeting

Have you ever tried to sing along to a Led Zeppelin song?
Not the easiest thing in the world to do.
But that didn’t deter my kiddos from sending me an mp3 of their Mother’s Day wishes and gift in a verse composed by my Michelle and sung together with my Joe to the tune of Zep’s “Going to California”.
Let me put this in context for you: Joe is in Colorado, Michelle (and hubby David) are in Michigan; they did a speaker phone call to sing this into a little thumb drive recorder attached to Michelle’s computer that she uses for research interviews.
So, it’s the non-musician in the family who orchestrated this fun Mother’s Day greeting…(transcript follows)

Joe: 1-2; 1-2-3-4

Joe and Michelle:
You’re going to Michigan
To have dinner with your kids
Joe will come up North to meet you

IN THE MITT*!

Michelle solo:
Hopefully David and Michelle with have a table and chairs

Joe and Michelle:
You’re going to Michigan
For a family meal
You’re going to Michigan
When Thanksgiving’s in the air.

It seems the one good thing that has surfaced since the beginning of our 2009 exodus from our home state of Colorado, onto the 3 year journey between homes and then our sojourning for another 3+ years in South Carolina has been the fact of all us still getting together, wanting to get together for family meals regardless of distance. The extra special part is in seeing how much of this has been initiated by the kiddos themselves these past 7 years on a regular basis.  It’s almost become a new family tradition: defying the odds and logistics – we will still meet around the family table!
I am loved.

I’m glad you had a happy Mother’s Day, Laura. I think it’s wonderful that your offspring and in-law offspring sent such a greeting. This is the good aspect of technology! So glad that despite the miles, you can still see each other.

Thank you L.Marie. I like how you say ‘in-law offspring’…

Wow, that’s wonderful! Though modern technology can be a pain in the butt, it is a blessing for something like this. Happy Mother’s Day! i just found out I am going to be a great Aunt. Exciting!

Being an Aunt is cool…a Great Aunt…doubly so. Congrats!
