That term ‘altered light’ is very correct…especially after the Totality – sharp and crisp white emergent sunlight.
Yes, it gradually got drier (as in less humid) and a good 10 degrees cooler…very comfortable for that bit of time. It was in the high 90’s low 100’s with just as much humidity that day, but more than worth it, believe me!

We had a partly cloudy morning to start with here, but enough of the haze lifted so I could enjoy a little darkening of the skies. Hung laundry while admiring the altered light, what an experience! Yours sounds very cool; did you notice a change in temps? I didn’t, but my sis in southern Oregon did. 😉

Thanks for your account. In the 1990’s I planned to travel down south to Cornwall to witness a total eclipse, but my plans went awry with a very young daughter and other mitigating factors at the time. I was disappointed, but that’s life. Maybe one day I will experience one, but, more likely, I will witness it second hand from accounts such as yours.

In reply to Jane Chesebrough. Taking off those glasses during totality was indeed a biggie for me - trusting the science behind exposing my eyes to something ingrained in me to not do under everyday circumstances??!!! but, yeah wow, cool & awesome it was for sure! :-)

Those were exactly the words I used, “awesome”, “cool” and “wow!” i like all the “t’s ” in the title. I think you were brave looking at the eclipse when it was total, but sure it is an unforgettable experience.
