My purple petunias in the dark teal pot (great unexpected color combo!) are beginning their entry into the hot summer fade…flowers have been prolific since early April, so we’ve enjoyed their contribution to our front porch railing menagerie.

I remember there was once a Lone Hollyhock that made its way through the asphalt ground of a major retail parking lot. The hope reflected there was not only in the ‘flower living on’ but also in the actions of everyday people to help enable it to live out its flowering life. There were little rock ‘barricades’ set up around it in order to protect it from on-coming cars with intent to park over it. Amazingly, it lived through most of the growing season…
