This is a good start to the day. Thank you.
There’s just something about Ry Cooder and this song, I agree! Happy you clicked on the suggested post and discovered it.
I just heard today that Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal have released a new album.
Thanks for the heads up, Jane. I didn’t know this. Turns out its release date was 4/22/22!!! A good link for a brief background of this long overdue reunion collaboration is here: https://www.guitarworld.com/news/taj-mahal-ry-cooder-new-album
And they are doing Sonny terry and Brownie Mcghee-old favourites. I had a couple of Cassettes but they went by the wayside.
I haven’t heard Ry Cooder in a while. Thanks. I know he’s done music for lots of soundtracks. I remember Paris, Texas. . .
Yeah, that’s a good one!
😉
I hadn’t heard of him before, Laura. He’s good!!
Glad to introduce you to one of my favs, Jennie!
?
I love Ry Cooder. He plays and sings with such passion. Have you ever seen the “Buena Vista Social Club”? I assume you probably have. It’s wonderful. – Marty
Oh yeah, we saw BVSC when it was considered a sort of ‘cult’ film at an art theatre back in the day. Took the whole family, in fact.
Of course we bought the soundtrack cd fresh off the press and both a video (first to come out at the time) and DVD when it was put in that format. Geez……dates one, doesn’t it?
🙂
Fantastic music is timeless.
Very nice Laura. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome, Jill.
So strange you posted this as I was just telling my partner John about Ry Cooder and how he had to watch Buena Vista Social Club with me (I’ve watched it a zillion times).
Ahhh, then you remember when it was a sort of cult film? Us, too.
😉
Ry is a real musician’s musician…I like that we have another common interest along with quilting & rummaging through stacks of books!
Laura, my late husband was a huge fan of the blues. We used to listen to blues when we lived in DC and frequented street fairs and hung out at Eastern Market on Capital Hill. Those were the days! I enjoyed this recording. Thanks for posting! All the best!
It sounds like the vid evoked powerfully positive memories…
(so sorry to hear of your loss…)
The blues: timeless.
😎
I enjoyed listening to it. Thanks, Laura! 🙂
As I enjoy the pieces you put on your monthly blog post!
You’re welcome, Lavinia.
I love this Ry Cooder song which was written for a cat.

HA! Too funny, and I get it that you’d like it!
Felines rule.
Bebopping here! Never heard this and love it! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Bebop your way into a carefree weekend, Laura. We all need the respite from all things 2020 and 1/6/2021.
😎
Oh I like that one. Thanks.
Happy to oblige, Frank!
His words are spoken clearly with great rhythm. Enjoyed the video.
Ry has a way of saying it. Enjoy the clear words with the rhythm. Nice way to end the week.
Your observation on the clarity of the sung words is worth noting…hadn’t thought of that before.
We do need ‘nice ways to end’ our week, don’t we?
Enjoy your weekend, Jane.
Thanks. It has been quite the week. Thinking Peace.
Just when you think it can’t get any worse…right?
Hang in there, my friend.
Oh, that’s good! I’ve never heard that song. I love the blusey sound, Laura.
I’m thrilled to share, Pete!
Oh, Laura, this was wonderful! I love Ry Cooder. One of my favorite local bands in Berkeley, CA (back in the late 70s) covered a lot of his songs. Oddly, that’s how I got to know his music. He’s one of those true, enduring musical souls.
I am amazed how many **don’t** know him…perhaps because the genre is outside the realm of pop culture and the reach of that audience?
Seems we both are atuned (like the pun?) to the ‘true’ musical world – HA!
Yep, we’re cool.
🙂
Delightful. I’m grooving on this. Thanks.
Groove on, Ms Bean, groove on…
😎
I hope he does find his way home. Was tickled by the idea of Buddha playing the guitar. Thanks for alerting me to this lovely piece of music
Aha, so you heard that, too…it does tweek one’s visual, doesn’t it?
🙂
It takes a great musician to point out great songs by other great musicians. ? I thoroughly enjoyed that video! We definitely need peace these days!
L.Marie, what a sweet compliment discreetly inserted within your comment…I am most humbled.
I am also thrilled to have introduced you (and Frog Yoga lady?!) to a new-to-you musician.
I hope you have a comfy weekend!
Love this music thanks for sharing.
But, of course!
Thanks for sharing – I thoroughly enjoyed the listen!
Something to quilt by, right?
😉
