Hi, Laura,
Many thanks for following my blog, which is much appreciated.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks for being aware of my ‘follow’!!!!
I’ve seen your comments on others I follow and didn’t check out your actual blog till lately…

This was a bad enough day for those of us living half a continent away; it must have been beyond frightening for you, having children in school in the same state. Part of the trouble is the 24 hour news cycle, I think. The more such events are publicized, the more people who are not quite right see such behavior as a way to get their 15 minutes of fame. I’m not in favor of media bashing either, but feeding people’s ghoulish interest isn’t healthy for individuals or society.
Thanks for your insights. We live in a complicated world, don’t we?
Heartbreaking event captured with emotion and deceptive simplicity in your poem. Echoing the other comments, I canβt believe it is twenty years ago … the tragedy etched searingly on our hearts and minds, it seems much more recent.
Thank you for feeling it with me in the ‘deceptive simplicity’ of my poem. Understatement is way underrated in this day, IMHO.
Twenty years ago already. And have ‘we’ learned anything from that horrific event. Some days it doesn’t seem as if we have. Gosh, it sure does give one pause thinking how close your children were. But for the grace of God. Happy Easter! ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks for stopping by Roseanne. Happy post-Easter!

goodness, that was just “yesterday” but here you mention 2 decades ago…
Yeah, like yesterday…sigh.

Some of the children are grown up now, sending their children to school, and feeling the trauma. Hard to believe it has been 20 years, moments of that day are still etched in my mind. thanks for posting as it is important to pause and remember.
Ultimately we each need to find a place of peace with these all-too-common-now occurrences. Not in resignation to the fact of their routine happening but in order to enable us to more fully live through them while sprinkling help/hope/possible solutions/support/etc to those affected around us.
As you say, Jane: Yes, it is important to pause and remember.
An absolutely beautiful and powerful post. We will never forget.
Amen and Amen.
And how life can be altered forever in twenty minutes.
Great poem, along with the insights in your email
How true.
BTW: welcome to my little list.
Thank you for the reminder, Laura. What a sad time. A beautiful poem.
Thank you, L.Marie.
