but I’m not anymore – I came back on a Tuesday.
I guess that’s my way of saying what the ‘other’ Laura posted on Monday, August 10th, 2026:
“I have been MIA (missing in action) from Blogland since the end of May. No blog sharing…the break has been nice.”
And here’s where that Laura’s ‘other’ Laura (me – we’re each other’s ‘other’!) adds to that with my own situation:
“…but it’s hard to dive back into blogging!”
~me
Well, thank you Laura for inadvertently amping up my resolve to open up the old WP dashboard and post something. You nudged me to give it a shot. After all, you did it and managed a classy comeback! 😉
I realized in the interim that I missed the discipline required in putting together my thoughts, ideas, discoveries, & (he)art in a blog post format and sharing it with ‘my’ readers and followers – you guys, my blogger buddies.
Alas, upon forging ahead with my decision to post something – the WP editor stubbornly refused to accept a single word of it. Vehemently shaking each block I chose to write text/add content in refusal. Long overdue updates could no longer be ignored.
Only the title remained saved in my WP dashboard drafts file: Monday’s Gone.
Monday’s Gone – but I’m not anymore – I came back on a Tuesday.
And that got me to thinking about Lady Madonna, of Beatles fame.

…
Friday night arrives without a suitcase
Sunday morning creeping like a nun
Monday’s child has learned to tie his bootlace
…
Tuesday afternoon is never ending
Wednesday morning papers didn’t come
Thursday night your stockings needed mending
…
But wait, where’s Saturday?
Ah, yes, one of my favorite feel-good songs from times past, times enjoyed and places lived – Chicago’s Saturday in the Park provided that answer for me.
Well you know they say ‘all good things come in threes’. Please enjoy this third musical piece as my Monday’s Gone finale. An all-inclusive 7-day week bluesy rumination by T Bone Walker, Stormy Monday.
But then it all comes down to the Blues, doesn’t it?
They call it stormy Monday, but Tuesday’s just as bad
They call it stormy Monday, but Tuesday’s just as bad
Wednesday’s worse, and Thursday’s also sad
Yes, the eagle flies on Friday, and Saturday I go out to play
Eagle flies on Friday, and Saturday I go out to play
Sunday I go to church, then I kneel down and pray
Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy on me
Lord have mercy, my heart’s in misery
Crazy about my baby, yes, send her back to me
Welcome back, Laura 💖
Thank you, THG!
And now Tuesday’s gone, too…which reminds me of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Hope you have a great weekend, Laura!
(I tried leaving a more timely comment earlier this week, but it apparently got lost in the wind.)
(WordPress…geesh! Thanks for re-commenting!)
You’re right – Tuesday’s Gone! I like that song & it’s a stand-alone piece, relevant to the subject matter in this post. And I thought about using it, even! But I admit I over the years, I personally have had a hard time with the persona that is Lynyrd Skynyrd even if their music is good. Speaking for myself, their ‘brand’ – which might have started as a perceived innocent marketing gimmick back in the day – is really quite troublesome and downright offensive, so, I decided against **highlighting** it in my post. Ya know? Some modern articles that might interest you which shed light on all of this in a fairly balanced way (including the times in which these songs were written): https://rockandrollglobe.com/music-journalism/why-listening-to-lynyrd-skynyrd-twists-my-innyrds/ and https://www.facebook.com/AXSTV/videos/neil-young-vs-lynyrd-skynyrd-musics-greatest-mysteries/1198272937235306/.
Enjoy your weekend, too, Mark. And may all your Birds be Free (get it?)
😊
Welcome back. Though you were never really gone, your heart and spirit remained with us!
Lady Madonna always takes me back to secondary school – so somewhere between 1983 and 1986 (a further two years awaited young Andy in high school). There are only three songs I remember from our music lessons: Feeling Groovy and Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, and the aforementioned Beatles song. I remember Mr Patterson – Pogo Patterson after a Grange Hill character- pounding away at the piano. I hope school kids today still do those songs. I do !
Yay! Music in the schools does make a difference! 🙂
I had to look up Pogo Patterson & Grange Hill – I can see the appeal it held for kids/youth, especially by guys coming of age! Reminds me of some of the kids/youth programs produced on cable network Nickelodeon in the 90s here.
I’ve missed you, and of course you returned in the cleverest of ways. It was ‘so you.’ You picked great songs, so thanks for the memories. I did not know the final song, but I so love the blues. Everyone should, right?
Aww, thanks for that, teacher. Maybe Gloria could introduce her friends to the blues sometime, eh? 😉
Ah, that’s a great idea!
😊
Welcome Back! I’ve missed you. I do agree with “other” Laura that sometimes a break is greatly needed, and that’s okay. (Sometimes I feel like I’m needing that break!) But jumping back in after you’ve been gone a while can feel refreshing too. Thank you for the music, too. New to me blues to add to my playlist.
Well right now, your plate is full with book stuff that requires your unwavering attention and a break now and then whenever you can manage it! You’re right about the jumping back in thing, it felt good – timing is everything IMHO. Glad you enjoyed the music!
Very creative post mixing in the music – I enjoyed listening to all the music you posted. Ah that Monday and Tuesday versions of the Lauras 🙂
Thanks Tierney – I’m glad you enjoyed the music!
I’ve missed your words!
That’s very kind of you to say so, Michael.
Good to hear your voice again Laura. Your posts always give me much food for thought — music to my ears.
Sorry about the technical glitches. Writing is hard enough on its own, so well done on re-writing.
Mariss! Even if I’ve been silent, you know I always read your posts with eager abandon (how’s that for ‘well done’ writing?!). I like that my little musical musings are ‘music to your ears.’ And that regardless of the world we live in – we feel at home with each other. peace
Yes I do know, and it warms my heart
🙂
Hmmm…what’s going on over there?
hmmm – plenty! will reply to your email in the next day or so. hugs!
Music so often shares in ways that all of us just can’t seem to express. Welcome back, my Other Laura! So funny that you share Chicago. For some reason, Saturday in the Park is a refrain that frequently circles my brain. It comes out of nowhere, like many random thoughts often do. I probably indoctrinated myself, since, as a teenager, I loaded up the phonograph every night when I went to bed. 🤣
Hey ‘other’ Laura! Thanks for the welcome back – and for the post that started it all! Look below in the comments and you’ll see another ‘other’ Laura joining our ranks – fun! 😉
Always nice to hear from you, Laura. Way to show the WordPress Editor, it doesn’t know who it’s messing with. I especially liked your trifecta of songs. The first two I know well, but I had never heard T-Bone Walker before. (That’s a blues name and song if I ever heard one.)
Hey Pete! Thanks for the kudos on my showing WP who’s who! HA! Have a great Tuesday – even though ‘Tuesday’s just as bad.’ 😉
I’m not “that” other Laura, but I’m glad you’re back!
Aww, thanks for letting me know, Laura. BTW: We can be each other’s ‘other’ Laura, too! 😊
Laura, I’m glad to see you back in the blogosphere with songs. You were missed. This is a great time to return! It’s September! A new season begins this month!
Thanks for such a hearty welcome back, L.Marie. Along with you, I’m ready to kick Summer to the curb!
