Well folks, this month, 7 years ago I pubbed my first blog post.
This year, I completed a long overdue update & overhaul of my site, announcing its 2020 Grand Re-Opening just last month. Perfect (yet unintended) timing for my 7 year bloggoversary.
Bloggoversaries come and go. Case in point: #5 was all but forgotten. And with #6 I made up for that by posting a little something for 6 days in a row. I thought that was challenging.
Who knew this year I’d tackle the whole enchilada? π
Oh, and, if not for the encouragement from an early blogger buddy* 2 years into this, I’d not be here at all…
*Thank-you, L.Marie!
Love your blog. So many others become FLOG’s, used to flay their detractors.
The coveted ‘Joseph Finnerty seal of approval’ is heartily accepted!
Nice, thanks!
Congratulations on seven year of blogging! Here is to (at least) seven more! I always enjoy what you share.
Thanks thrice – for the congrats, for stopping by and for the thumbs up! Stay safe.
Congrats on 7 years. I like how you’ve changed this site recently. It seems in keeping with your anniversary, growing older within the blogosphere. Like you I had a few wonderfully encouraging people along the way who kept me going, when I thought I was finished. I bless them daily.
Thanks, Ms Bean!
Seven years is quite an accomplishment! I look forward to many more posts from you, Laura. Congrats! – Marty
Thanks, Marty!
Congratulations on seven years of blogging!!
Thank-you, kindly, barefoot and fancy free teacher!
π
Youβre welcome… from the BFF, thatβs barefoot and fancy free as unposed to best friends forever. ?
I get the BFF reference…but I have to admit my mind gravitated towards the BFG at first.
hugs!!!!!
I love it! Mega hugs! ?
You, Linda and I all seemed to have begun around the same time. Maybe there was something in the stars back then, or on the wind.
I like the idea of riding the wind through different countries and cities and across oceans…landing back on our computers communicating with each other about our adventures. Glad I’ve known you over the long haul, Andy!
Hopefully your “7 year itch on WP” won’t crossover to anything else – remember, I’m on Jen’s side!
(Just a little humor to spice up the comments)
Always ?
Well done, Laura! It is interesting how one idea leads to another and grows into a project that gives us and others such pleasure. Keep on with those happy creations…!
Thanks Jane! I missed your comment somehow – sorry about the slow reply.
You, too, keep on with your photo creations for us to savor.
Will do, thank-you.
Congratulations Laura ? It has been lovely to have found you, and be part of that very supportive bloggy family. Here’s to the next 7 years!
And a delight to meet you via blogging over this past year, too!
Congratulations! You are so right about early encouragement. I will always remember the first person who commented on a post… and be forever grateful to those who miraculously found my little blog out of the millions out there and gave me the courage to continue. I’ve been at it for almost seven years (in September) too, but I don’t think I’ve received notices about my blogoversaries from WP for several years.
No notices from WP on my end, either, for years and I’m 100% updated and revised so maybe we’ve timed out!
HA!
Congrats on your upcoming 7 years, Janis.
Likewise dear Laura β€οΈ
Hey Laura,
Congratulations on 7 great years of ‘blogging'( is that a word?). Your posts have always been interesting, informative, thoughtful and enlightening. Reading them is always a pure pleasure. They are also the reason I started my own blog. I wish you the best with your new communication venture.
Bob
“blogging is the -ing form of the verb to blog” according to my personal internal dictionary. So there. Blogging is a word!
Thanks for the congrats, Bob!
To be clear, I am staying on WP just the ‘7 year itch’ reference sounded good as a title but has brought confusion to some readers.
Congratulations, Laura! ? Do you find the time has flown by since you started blogging? I have, began mine in January 2015 (I just had to double-check!) and it doesn’t feel that long ago! Hope you could have a safe party to celebrate! Here’s to the next 7 years for you on WP! xx
Yeah, time does fly by and blogging gives us a way to mark milestones along the way, doesn’t it?
As for that party? Might just indulge in a scoop or two of that Tillamook Coffee Almond Fudge ice cream – care to join me in a virtual spoon-clink?!
Absolutley!! ?? Love the sound of this ice-cream … spoon-toast clink! ?
Your blog is like a balloon that carries me aloft. Ride the wind, Laura.
Always the poet, that you are!
Thanks for the suggestion – the visual of riding the wind is sooooo enticing, Joe.
And a comfort.
Congratulations Laura! I admit, I tend to ignore my blog anniversaries. Perhaps I should put forth more effort. Your makeover looks great! π
Thanks, Laura…sometimes those milestones make for a great excuse to blog ‘anyway’. Ya know?
Thanks for the balloons π
The more the merrier – you’re very welcome.
“Up, up and away…” I bet you know that reference, Zip.
π
Seven years is a long stretch, with many ideas and words shared. So CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for being a blogger, otherwise I would never have met you and thus (be) poorer.
Very sweet of you to say, Mariss, thank you much. (I edited your ‘mistake’ here as you added later – hope you don’t mind)
I do like that we met during the ‘later’ years of my blogging journey…you have added a slice of (he)art that nourishes my soul.
Congratulations on making it seven years, Laura. I’ve only been at it a little over a year, but I’ve met a lot of great people in that time span. One of the generalizations I have commented on before is how teaching (my former life) and blogging (my occasional present life) are similar in that there are a lot of fabulous people who look out for each other.
Are you planning a week straight of blog posts to commemorate this occasion, or was that a one time deal?
Welcome to the blogging community, newbie!
π
As to your last question – no to the 7 of 7!
As to your ‘generalization’ – building up is much better than tearing down – very much a ‘looking out for each other’ sort of thing.
Congratulations, Laura!
Thanks, Jill, from one long-timer to another!
π
Laura, congratulations on your seven-year anniversary! All the best! Cheryl
Thanks, Cheryl!
Laura!!!!! Happy blogoversary!!! Congratulations on seven wonderful years! Woooooooooo! ? ?? ?
Well, unbeknownst to you at the time, you played big part in my making it this far! Thanks, L.Marie.
Hi Laura! Seven-year itch! I thought you might be itching to move away from WP or stop blogging or something else. I’m glad you stuck it out seven years! I wonder if I should move to a different platform since I think when I stop paying for hosting all my post disappear. But I guess I won’t care any longer at that point. HAHA! Congrats on seven wonderful years and here’s to seven or more to go. ~smile~ Roseanne
You bring to mind a question I’ve often wondered – if the internet is ‘forever’ what happens to our blog posts when we do indeed disappear?
Thanks for the congrats!
