Today, this last day in April 2021, is also the last day of National Poetry Month.

Poetry speaks to our aloneness and draws us into a community of common experiences.
Allusions illuminating the seen and unseen – the felt or unfelt.
Resonant expression. Targeting the heart. Melting into oneβs soul.
Before, during and post Pandemic – Poetry is a life line.
That was a beautiful video, and I have bookmarked https://poetryofpresencebook.com/ Thank you, Laura! It’s on my list.
You are more than welcome, Lavinia!
That was lovely, Laura. Thanks for sharing. And so true too, about our need for poetry in our lives.
You and I have both touched on this before. Poetry is the original ‘like water for chocolate’! (just came to me and it sounded good, so I recklessly threw it out there!)
π
Wow that video was so amazing and peaceful. I could watch the butterfly over and over again. I am grateful I got to see such a soul soothing video – thanks!
You’re more than welcome, Tierney. We all need a little soul soothing these days – even as we emerge from our dark days of 2020…it’s a balm much needed.
Oh have you ever looked at this page on Mariss’ blog? It’s poems and art quilts. After all this time following her I just discovered it today and it made me think of the post I read on your blog about poetry: https://marissthequilter.com/poems/
Oh yes! I always enjoyed her quilt/poems as she pubbed them on her site – before – she revamped her site to include her quilt/poem page. So glad you discovered it – Mariss is a real creative gem!
Oh, wow! Your video is poignant, beautiful and powerful! It embodies your message, poetry is a lifeline, quite well. I hope to get my hands on your poetry anthology. And I’m signing up on your email list so that I don’t miss a thing. π
How wonderful to know that this Poetry as Life Line message has resonated with you, Khaya. You’re such a sensitive poet. I hope it helps you to see how deeply your own work touches others as part of the Poetry Life Line.
To clarify, the video highlights my message, but is not ‘my’ anthology. I found this via a recommendation from another sensitive poet, Laura Grace Weldon.
There are so many things to thank you for Laura: the clarification about the video, my bad I misread, the introduction to another amazing poet, Weldon, your kind words about seeing my own work as part of Poetry Life Line. Thank you! I’ll be catching up on your blog…
I look forward to keeping up with your posts, too!
What a lovely video! The swan toward the end took my breath away … that was poetry in motion π
Poetry in motion…you’re so right, Marie.
Wow.
Thank you, Jane, for letting me know this touches you where you’re at, also!
Take care.
Well said, Laura. That’s the strength of poetry.
And thanks to you, many kiddos are immersed in poetry during their ‘early’ education days.
Thank you, Laura! If you find the right poetry, children really like it.
I admire your ability to write poetry, and the pictures in the video are beautiful. thanks.
Thanks so much, Mary. I am so pleased you found the vid refreshing.
Laura, thank you so much for sharing the beautiful video of ‘Poetry of Presence’ and this looks like a special and unique poeteic anthology! On my wish list! Poetry has become more part of our lives than ever before, reaching into our hearts, encapsulating our emotions with a a deft touch, spreading wisdom with poetic finesse! A richness in all our lives!
Wishing you a lovely weekend!
You’re right, Annika, I think many who weren’t really poetry ‘readers’ came to them during the Pandemic. A good thing, indeed.
This has been a lovely Saturday – filled with sunshine and surprises. Hope yours has been delightful, too.
π
Thanks for casting this lifeline. I am so very glad that I have watched this exquisite clip of words, music, images.
A lifeline for a lifetime: Poetry.
Catchy, yes, but I think it conveys the essence of this (he)artform.
I absolutely agree. Here’s to poetry
Snipped from my poem Words On A Bridge:
Poetry is when
the language of the soul
escapes into
the common tongue.
If you will allow me the self-indulgence of quoting myself ?
Had my second jab yesterday. Bring on the old world.
Very apropos, Andy.
I remember that poem. Why? Because your two poetry collections have been part of my Pandemic Poetry Survival Kit! But then you already knew that.
π
Congrats on that second jab. Hubby also received his second on Friday. He’s not one to dance a jig, but his heart is definitely much lighter!
How was he after his jab?
No problems, really. Fatigue set in for him the next day and he’s still off and on with the fatigue. It took me a full week to shake the fatigue factor. Not really a big deal, but something to be aware of.
How about yourself?
I had fatigue the day after my first jab which lasted about twenty four hours. Second jab I was fine.
Ps my last post was about a northern lass you may not have heard of before. Though I know you have some UK YouTube issues.
Yep, You Tube keeps the Colonists separated from the British Empire often!
The price of Independence!
While I enjoy reading, I’m often lost when it comes to finding good poetry. This was lovely; like finding a quiet moment of peace to watch something thoughtful and beautiful. Thank you.
So happy to share the beauty that is poetry with another ‘pieceful’ soul.
Very nice, Laura! I just got my second jab today. My wife and I will be getting on an airplane in a week to fly to Montana to see our son. We’ll still take the necessary precautions, but one step closer to normalcy.
Yippee for you and your wife! That’s a great approach – vaxed but still vigilant. I’m sure you’ll enjoy that long awaited visit with your son.
I don’t write poetry (at least good poetry π ) but I’ve learned to appreciate it more from being in my weekly writers workshop. There are some very good poets in the group. Beautiful montage of images with lovely words and peaceful music to back it up.
Aren’t writers groups great?
Have a great weekend, Janis.
embrace change. let go and be.
That’s pretty much the best way to process this last year. Not all changes are good, not all letting goes are planned, but here we are. Interesting video, poetic, and quietly moving.
But here we are…yep.
Have a great weekend, Ms Bean.
FYI (not related to poetry at all) – my 10 days after second jab are up and Monday I plan on making it out to a new coffee shop for some java-somewhere-other-than-at-my-house time! Next stop? A haircut! Definitely a haircut.
Can you tell I’m excited???HA!
